Education Above All (EAA) Foundation kicks off Ramadan Fundraising Campaign

Doha, Qatar, May 21, 2018:   Education Above All (EAA) Foundation has launched a country-wide fundraising campaign during the holy month of Ramadan to provide the world’s most impoverished and marginalized children, youth and women a quality education, as around 263 million children and youth are out of school today, according to UNESCO.

The Ramadan campaign was announced at a press conference attended by dignitaries such as Professor Dr. Ali M Al-Quradaghi, Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars and Vice Chairman for European Council for Fatwa and Research, and Mr. Mohamed Al-Naama, Senior Representative of Fundraising Department at Education Above All (EAA) Foundation.

EAA’s Ramadan campaign aims to support the hardest to reach children, youth and women around the world with opportunities to change their lives for a better future. Additionally, EAA provides and increases access to educational facilities, projects and resources; improves the quality of education; and engages youth as leaders in defining and advocating for innovative solutions.

EAA is joining hands with several partners across Qatar, including LuLu Hypermarket outlets, Qatar Foundation, ExxonMobil, Al Meera Stores and many others to create awareness about the challenges, such as poverty, conflict and natural disasters, which millions around the world face in accessing a quality education.

The funds raised will support EAA’s projects around the world as it works across 5 countries. Donations can be made through: donation boxes at 40 locations in Qatar including shopping malls and public places, at cash counters in Lulu supermarkets and Al Meera stores,  and for payments by credit card or through personal Ooredoo Mobile Money Account.

Al RAYYAN TV is also organizing a special episode for EAA’s fundraising campaign that will be aired Wednesday 23rd of May, during its programme, Layali Ramadan, to spread awareness about EAA’s global programmes and projects for its fundraising.

EAA Foundation is eligible to receive Sadaqah and Zakat donations. It’s Ramadan campaign aims to raise funds for EAA’s programmes: Educate A Child (EAC), Reach Out To Asia (ROTA), and Al Fakhoora, which include several projects in Gaza, West Bank, and for Syrian and Palestinian refugees in Lebanon, Turkey and Syria, and for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh and Somalia.

Commenting on this occasion, Prof. Dr. Ali M. Al-Quradaghi, Secretary General of the International Union of Muslim Scholars and Vice Chairman for European Council for Fatwa and Research, said:

“Zakat and Sadaqah hold extreme importance in empowering underprivileged. The remarkable work achieved by EAA Foundation deserves support from the donating organisations and people to come out in greater numbers and make this campaign a stupendous success. While going through their work to empower the world’s poorest and most marginalized by educating out of school children, youth and women, we wholeheartedly support this endeavor.”

On the occasion, Mr. Mohamed Al-Naama, Senior Representative of Fundraising Department at Education Above All (EAA) Foundation, said:  “We are elated to be eligible to receive Sadaqah and Zakat Donations after a careful screening process. Education Above All Foundation believes education is the key to unlocking a human’s potential and a driver of human development. We work to support the world’s hardest to reach people who have been affected by poverty, conflict, natural disasters, and discrimination to give them the power to change their lives for the better.
